Girlfriend Bakery
After a vibrant career as a touring mystic singer-songwriter Diane Patterson and her wife Sheba found themselves grounded in New Orleans with a vacant city acre—land they soon transformed into a productive urban farm. When Sheba was diagnosed with a serious gluten intolerance, Diane turned her creativity toward the kitchen and began baking.
With mentorship from a gluten-free baking innovator in Santa Barbara, CA and the energetic support of Sheba’s manifestation magic, Girlfriend Bakery was born.
Diane's passion for nourishing food is lifelong. From her own mama’s nightly home-cooked dinners—always two veggies and a protein!—to the hearty fare of her German exchange student mother, to her years working at a vegetarian co-op restaurant during and after college, Diane has long honored the power of real, rooted food. Now, with gluten and sugar sensitivities increasingly common, Girlfriend Bakery meets a growing need for delicious, wholesome alternatives.
The bakery sources local eggs and honey, grows its own herbs and vegetables, and uses organic grains and flours—some of which Diane roasts and mills fresh in-house. Operating under Louisiana’s Cottage Food Law, Girlfriend Bakery is currently on the lookout for a dedicated gluten-free commercial kitchen or brick-and-mortar location.
Place an order anytime for pickup in P-Town/Leonidas or find Girlfriend Bakery at the Thursday Crescent City Farmers Market.
