Meet Me at the Market
The Meet Me at the Market program at Crescent City Farmers Market is often the first place many local children get to encounter the hard working families that produce the food we eat. Children in grades pre-kindergarten through sixth meet farmers, learn to identify produce, and understand that food is not just something that comes from a shelf. This unique, hands-on experience is part of our Farm to School programming.
Beginning in March 2023, we are happy to announce that we are bringing back our Meet Me at the Market programming. Students will get the opportunity to meet farmers at the Crescent City Farmers market, learn about seasonality and how plants grow, taste Louisiana produce, and be able to identify the health benefits of eating local fruits and vegetables.
If you are a school or teacher looking for an activity that informs and entertains, please contact our Director of Community Nutrition Programs via telephone (504) 861-4485 or via email brittani@marketumbrella.org.
We are grateful for generous support from the New Orleans Town Gardeners, Entergy Charitable Foundation, and Cox for making Meet Me at the Market possible.
