Fresh & Local:Spring is Springing!We’re a few weeks into the season (one of our favorite times at the market!) and we can confirm, Spring is Springing! The weather is euphoric and the bounty of sunny day farming is plentiful. Hello piquant alliums and sweet summer squash! Get ready for a whole new cornucopia of warm-weather crops, from green, butter, and snap beans, sugar and snow peas, new potatoes, to cucumbers. Stock up with your favorite producers at the Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday markets for the last of the winter harvest and to whet your appetite for a colorful spring plate! Isabel’s Tamales & Produce has already busted out the cukes and green beans, Poché Family Farm has the shiniest creole onions, and Amorphous Gardens returns with garlic galore. And if you’re ready to dive into the season with a sweet tooth, Paw Paw’s Donuts is serving up Strawberry Jam Donuts made fresh with the strawberries from Johndale Farms. Don’t forget that you can feel the season in our Market Match home delivery box as well, with fresh produce rotating weekly from our markets! Orders for next Tuesday’s box are live today through Friday. |
