Inspired by the New Orleans tradition of social aid and pleasure clubs, we are adapting it to the context of public markets. The Crescent Fund allows us to invest in each other, supporting projects that benefit market vendors, shoppers and the community. Investors, like shoppers and vendors, are invited to vote on which projects to fund. How do they pay it back? These $500 cash infusions are not grants. Recipients of this new funding process must pay the Farmers Market community back in time, talent or treasure.

Become an investor in the Crescent Fund: The Crescent Fund is an innovative community philanthropy project. By introducing a convenience fee on the Market tokens for shoppers who purchase them with credit and debit cards, we have created a pool of funds for social investment. Funds are used for small cash infusions of up to $500. Investments in the Crescent Fund are non-tax deductible.
