Giving Crescents as a gift provides your loved one with fresh, local foods while supporting the Louisiana economy and our market community. At the Crescent City Farmers Market, we want to make the products our vendors sell accessible to as many people as possible whether they have cash, credit or are benefit recipients. The Crescent also allows us to run some of our more innovative community outreach programs. The 2008 Crescent commemorates Jamie Shannon, a champion of southern Louisiana regional ingredients and a consummate cook. Winner of the James Beard Award as best Southeastern chef in 1999, Shannon led the kitchen of Commander's Palace when the Beard Foundation named the restaurant the nation's best in 1996.
Wooden tokens we call Crescents are managed centrally at the Welcome Booth at the Crescent City Farmers Markets. Crescents allow the Market to accept credit/debit and EBT cards. Sold in $5 and $1 denominations, Crescents never expire, are accepted at all our vendor stalls and can be used at our Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday markets.
